graphic design) can even be traced back to ancient pagan times. Creators draw inspiration
from ancient symbols, natural elements, animal imagery, prototype plants, and traditional
patterns.
What are the contemporary aesthetic features of Ukraine's new folk customs?
This aesthetic system has developed into a unique phenomenon. It contains multiple directions:
1. From ancient symbols to traditional embroidery patterns
2. To reinterpret the structure in a modernist way
3. Moving on to objects with bohemian and humorous satirical styles
All of these do not exclude ancient craftsmanship or modern environmentally friendly
materials, nor do they exclude the combination with the latest technology.The new

materials - includingclay, linen, wood, metal, and straw - as well as symbolic

these two directions are often intertwined within the same brand or single product.
This is precisely why Ukrainian design objects are so distinct and unique, although
Ukraine does not have a mature industrial design school system like Europe.
When did this trend emerge in Ukraine?
This cultural trend can be traced back to after the "Dignity Revolution" in 2014. At
that time, society began to actively seek a new cultural language that was rooted in
the local culture and reflected tradition.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, this cultural energy has become even
stronger. The new folk customs have become a collective reflection on identity and
are presented in the design language as follows:Poetic expression/Beauty of function/
